Don't wait for an opportunity... create one!
A new Career Spotlight with Analog Astronaut Hanna, plus this week's top engineering roles.
Hello everyone,
Last time, we went inside the policy rooms of Brussels.
This week, we're going somewhere completely different: a simulated lunar habitat.
I'm thrilled to launch our second Career Spotlight. This time, we're talking to Hanna, the first Armenian analog astronaut, about what that is, and how is it like to train crews and run missions in isolated, high-pressure environments.
It's a fascinating look at the hands-on research that's paving the way for our future on the Moon and beyond.
Remember you can apply to be featured here!
🚀 Spotlight: New on findaspacejob.com
Here are some of the most interesting roles that have been added to the site this week:
Junior Professional in Chemical Propulsion @ ESA (Netherlands)
👉 A top role at ESA. Chemical propulsion is fun and gets rockets off the ground. So why not help?
Systems Engineer @ Beyond Gravity (Sweden)
👉 I’ve said a million times I love systems engineering roles. This is no exception.
Working Student Procurement & Logistics @ Dcubed (Germany)
👉 Interesting role for students not looking for a full engineering job. Not many like this so be quick!
Ground Segment System Architect @ Rivada Space Networks (Germany)
👉 Help build the ground segment for one of the planned broadband constellations!
Key Account Manager - Space (f/m/d) @ PEAK Technology (Austria)
👉 For those non engineers out there: a nice role to check out, don’t you think?
Radar Data Scientist @ TU Wien (Austria)
👉 PhD/PostDoc with data science experience interested in remote sensing?
Mission Architect – LIFE Space Mission @ ETH (Switzerland)
👉 This one for sure is fun.
Gravitational-Wave Astronomy PhD @ Radboud University (Netherlands)
👉 For the astrophysics wannabe experts 🙂 this is still open
Astronaut Training Engineer @ ESA (Germany)
👉 Probably one of the best jobs available. Still open so you can now be the 19204th applicant 😅 (good luck)
There are plenty of other jobs in the job board so be sure to check it out. Or else you might miss out
🧐 What exactly is an Analog Astronaut?
Our second Career Spotlight is live on the blog!
We sat down with Hanna, the first Armenian analog astronaut to learn what it’s like to conduct research, train crews and run simulated space missions.
It's a great read for anyone interested in operations, robotics or the human side of space exploration.
Here's a quick summary of her insights:
A Day in the Life: "My responsibilities often involve technical maintenance, like repairing equipment or 3D printing parts, and preparing for extravehicular activities (EVAs)... Once we’re suited up, we head out to the simulated lunar surface to conduct experiments."
Essential Skills: "From soft skills, the ability to work effectively within a team is crucial... technical skills, programming in Python... and 3D Printing."
Top Advice: "Get involved early! Join student-led initiatives, research projects, or analog missions. Don’t wait for the 'perfect' opportunity... Create one."

She’s open to connect and chat! (but please don’t spam her though or she’ll blame me :)
💰 Another nice funding round
It’s good to bring this back! In case you missed it, HyImpulse raised some good money this week: 45 million euros, to be precise. Not bad at all!
They will use the funding to continue developing their SL1 launcher which fyi uses hybrid propulsion and will carry ~600kg to orbit. The choice of hybrid propulsion is interesting: it’s simpler, safer and cheaper but not very reusable…
They are in a bit of a tough position (or they were a bit worse until the funding but still complicated) since they didn’t get into the ESA Launcher Challenge (which basically will hand out a lot of funding to the winner company) and so they need to move fast, spend little and avoid early explosions during launch.
But still, great news to see more funding coming to these companies who are developing key technologies in Europe! Let’s hope more comes soon!
That’s it for the week.
Until next Thursday!
