Jobs, Internships, Funding: Europe’s Big Week
€24M for U‐Space; academia heavy week with ESA, Manchester, Helsinki.
Hello hello,
This week is a nice mix: a new funding round (I wasn’t expecting it, I have to admit it), and a good combo of academic/industry job opportunities worth reviewing.
If you’re aiming to build, research or sell in space, then there’s something here for you.
Off to the jobs
🚀 Spotlight: New on findaspacejob.com
Check out some of the best roles of the week!
Intern in the Quality Department, Product Assurance and Safety for Launch Systems @ ESA (Italy)
👉 If you’re still preparing your application for the ESA internships… a friendly reminder to do it now
PhD on Lifecycle Modelling for Environmentally Responsible Space Missions @ The University of Manchester (UK)
👉 Manchester has got two really good football teams… and then this PhD opportunity (which is also good, of course)
System Manager @ AVIO (Italy)
👉 Currently the only medium/small orbital launcher in Europe. So if you are into launching stuff to space, then look no further
Sustainability Manager @ SKAO (UK)
👉 This is a new one and worth reviewing…
PhD Student: Charged Particle Dynamics During Geomagnetic Reversals @ University of Helsinki (Finland)
👉 The uni of Helsinki is offering this PhD along with two other very nice postdocs!
EO Future Missions Optical Payload and Performance Engineer @ ESA (Netherlands)
👉 Not all vacancies are internships at ESA, don’t worry
Sales Manager in Space Products -100% (m/f/d) @ Thales Alenia Space (Switzerland)
👉 There’s no point in building anything if you don’t sell it. And it’s one of the most important skills anyone can/should develop. So there you go.
There are plenty of other jobs in the job board so be sure to check it out. Or else you might miss out…
💰 And another funding round this week!
There’s been yet another funding round in Europe’s smallsat manufacturing scene. This time it’s U-Space, a French newspace startup that just raised €24 million to expand production and reach new markets.
U-Space builds modular nanosatellites and wants to bring something closer to an assembly-line model to the industry, aiming to produce one satellite per week by 2027 and eventually one per day.
This isn’t an isolated case. In the past few months alone, Aerospacelab, ReOrbit, EnduroSat, and Reflex Aerospace have all closed major funding rounds, each talking about industrialisation, scalability, and the need to deliver satellites faster and at lower cost. The narrative is consistent: European space is starting to shift from one-off engineering projects to genuine manufacturing capacity.
If this momentum holds, Europe could soon have a solid industrial base for satellite production. The challenge now is whether these companies can sustain output, secure enough demand, and keep the pace before competition elsewhere moves even faster.
That’s it for the week.
Until next Thursday!
